Cabot, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern women's golf team improved its round two score by eight strokes and the Lions finished in second place today at the Natural State Golf Classic hosted by Henderson State at Cypress Creek Golf Club.
The teams made the decision to play all 36 holes of the tournament today with the threat of rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
Maggie Moore led the way for the Lions improving from an 83 in round one to a 75 in round two to finish tied for fifth at 158. Hannah Torres shot a two-round 159 to finish tied for seventh, while Kenzie Kirkhart shot a 161 and was 12th.
Kylie Carnes improved by three strokes over round one to two to shot a 163 and finish tied for 13th and McKayla Hussey improved by 12 strokes and shot a 172 to finish tied for 19th.
Harding won the team title with a total of 629 for the tournament with the Lions at 640 in second place. Trevecca Nazarene was third followed by Maryville to round out the team scores.
The Lions will be back in action on March 16 and 17 when Southern heads to Rogers State to compete in the RSU Invitational hosted at Bailey's Ranch GC in Owasso, Okla.
