Pittsburg State University senior hurdler/sprinter Emilyn Dearman was named the MIAA Track Athlete of the Week Tuesday (Feb. 14).
Dearman ran a personal-best time of 8.55 in the 60 meter hurdles at the 2nd Annual Gorilla Classic Saturday (Feb. 11), posting the third-fastest time in NCAA Division II this season. The Stockton, Mo., native also ran the second leg of Pittsburg States 4x400m relay, which posted the fastest time in Division II this season (3:42.73). Dearman and her teammates – Alyssa Hammons, Rhema Taylor and Courtney Nelson – established a new Pitt State record in the relay.
This marks the second time this season Dearman has earned MIAA Track Athlete of the Week honors, after receiving the recognition on Jan. 31. She also earned MIAA Field Athlete of the Week accolades on Dec. 13.
