St. Charles, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team scored three first-inning runs, but couldn't survive a five-run third from Lindenwood as Southern fell 10-7 in game two of the three game series in St. Charles.
Southern (8-5, 1-1 MIAA) had six players with two hits each as Alec Alvarez drove in two and Richie Gorski scored twice. Tyler Sutherland, Max Hogan, Brett Graham, Gorski, Dave Prost and Alvarez all had two hits each.
Zach Litchen started for the Lions and was saddled with the loss as he went two innings, giving up three earned runs and struck out two. Sean Goostree and Will Bausinger threw three innings in relief each.
Southern scored three in the first as Hogan, Mike Million and Gorski drove in Sutherland, Hogan and Todd Hinkley.
Lindenwood added a run in the first, and five in the third to lead 6-3 after three.
Southern scored a run in the fourth on an RBI from Alvarez, but Lindenwood got two back in the fifth before Southern got two more in the sixth on RBIs from Alvarez and Biggs.
The Lions got a final run in the ninth on an RBI from Canterbury.
The two teams will play the series finale today. First pitch is slated for noon.
