Southern women's cross country dominates at SBU Invitational

The Missouri Southern women's cross country team had four of the top seven runners and Dora Eastin won the overall title as the Lions ran in the Southwest Baptist Invitational tonight.

The meet, originally slated for this past Saturday, saw the Lions have five runners in the top 11 places. Eastin traversed the 5k course in a time of 18:23.29, finishing eight seconds in front of her nearest competitor.

Kaitlyn Belisle was fifth in a time of 18:53.07, while Emily Harris and Kindra Emberton placed fifth and sixth.Dana Roberson was 11th, while Kayla Bartelsmeyer, Sierra Gray and Lizzy Kirby placed 14th, 15th and 17th, respectively.

Addie Mengwasser placed 25th, while Kelly Jo Roberts was 29th. Kaitlyn Eble and Cora Butcher-Spellmanplaced 32nd and 33rd.

The Lions had 30 points to take the team title. Southwest Baptist was second with 41 points, while Central Missouri, Emporia State, Lincoln and Arkansas Tech round out the team scores.

The Lions will be back in action on Oct. 25 when the team travels to Rolla to take place in the Jackling Jocks Invitational at Missouri S&T.
