Carl Junction will host it's firs-ever pro-wrestling event on Saturday, October 18. The event has been organized by Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S., a local non-profit breast cancer organization. The event, entitled "Smackdown on Breast Cancer"is being sponsored by Choice Marketing, and is presented in partnership with the Global Wrestling Federation. The event features ten professional wrestlers from around the country, including local television wrestling star Michael Barry aka "Mr. Saturday Night".
The Smackdown on Cancer Pro-Wrestling event takes place at the Carl Junction High School at 806 West Walnut. Doors open at 6 pm, and bell time is 7 pm. In an effort to raise awareness, general admission is free for anyone who wears pink, with a suggested donation appreciated.A limited number of ringside floor seats are available for $10. Advance floor seats may be purchased at Randy's Drive In in Carl Junction, the Stone's Corner UPS Store and both Joplin Metro Credit Union locations, as well as at the door. All proceeds benefit Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S. and provide breast cancer-related services for local women.
