MSSU soccer drops Washburn 1-0 in overtime

The Missouri Southern Lions (4-7-2, 2-6-1 MIAA) beat the Washburn Ichabods (0-12-1, 0-8-1 MIAA) 1-0 in overtime Friday evening at Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl.

After a scoreless regulation, junior Michaela Altvater dribbled into the left side of the box and centered a pass to senior Kelsey Haist for the golden goal in the 92 minute of action.

Freshman Hannah Bomar (pictured) led the way offensively with 3 shots on the night while Altvater, junior Kimmy Hulse, and sophomore Carly Cecil each took 2 shots.

Freshman Hanna Johnson got the start in the net for Southern and recorded her first two saves on the year while facing eight Washburn shots.

The Lions will be back on the road this Sunday afternoon as they travel to Emporia State with a 2pm kickoff.
