MSSU's Eric Schott named men's cross country runner of the week

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Missouri Southern senior runner Eric Schott has been named the MIAA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Schott wins the award for the second-straight week and the third time this year as he has won the honor in every week the Lions have won.

Schott, a 5-8 native of Cape Girardeau, Mo., helped the Lions to the overall team title at the SBU Invitational Tuesday. He won the individual title, traversing the 8k course in a time of 25:08.97, finishing 14 seconds in front of teammate Adrian Todd who placed second. Schott has not been beaten by a Division II runner this year, winning the Southern Stampede and the collegiate championship at the Chili Pepper Invite in Arkansas, previously.

Schott and the Lions will be back in action on Oct. 25 when the team travels to Rolla to take part in the Jackling Jocks Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T.
