Southern golfers take second at MSSU Invitational

The Missouri Southern Golf Team held their own on the final day to finish second in the MSSU Men's Golf Fall Invitational at the Shangri-La Country Club in Monkey Island, Okla.

The Lions were led by senior Ethan Hutcheson who paced the Lions with a three round total of 220 (71-70-79) to finish a tie for seventh. Junior Taylor Lansford finished tied for ninth just two strokes back of Hutcheson at 222 (71-72-79) and juniorCameron Hamilton finished tied for 14th with a three round total of 224 (80-72-72). Sophomore Connor Neil finished tied for 22nd with a 229 (72-79-78), while freshman Tripper Jensenfinished his debut event with a three round total of 233 (83-75-75) tied for 36th.

Competing at individuals freshman Tristan Haltom finished tied for 29th with a total of 232 (78-79-75), sophomore Aaron Shoemaker finished in 46th with a three round total of 239 (82-75-82), sophomore Bradley Jumper came in 48th as he carded a 241 (87-75-79), freshman Brandon Coale finished tied for 53rd with a three round total of 245 (80-83-82), and freshman Jake Badovinac carded a two day total of 254 (79-82-93) to finish 61st.

The Lions finished in second place with a team total of 887 (294-289-304) 23-over. Finishing ahead of the Lions at an even par 864 (286-292-286) was Central Missouri. Central Oklahoma rounded out the top three with a team total of 891 (297-291-303), 27-over. Lindenwood was fourth with 896, Northeastern State came in fifth with a 909, in sixth place was Missouri Western with a total of 919 and seventh was Washburn with a 920. Nebraska-Kearney moved up one spot from day one into eighth with a total of 928, Lincoln dropped one spot from day one into ninth with a 930. Southwest Baptist (956) and Fort Hays State (999) rounded out the 11 schools.
