The Missouri Southern Women's Soccer team dropped their second straight match of the 2015 season Saturday evening 1-0 to Missouri S&T at Harrison Stadium on the campus of Drury University.
Missouri S&T scored the lone goal of the match in the 28th minute as Julie Bride ran down the right sideline and put the shot just over the outstretched hands of Southern's senior goalkeeper Shawnee Phillips. Southern had a chance to tie the game in the 36th minute but the shot from senior Karley Thomas sailed wide left.
In the second half the Lions would have three opportunities from sophomore Hannah Bomar and seniors Kimmy Hulse andHannah Ishmael come up short as Missouri S&T goalie Carrie Levy came up with the three big saves.
Leading the way for the Lions were Thomas and Ishmael with two shots each, Bomar and Hulse each added one. Phillips recorded all 90 minutes in the net for the Lions as she came up with three saves to bring her season total to seven in two matches.
Southern will be back in action Thursday September 10 as they open their home schedule against Heartland Conference member Rogers State University. Kickoff from Hal Bodon Field is scheduled for 7pm.
