Missouri Southern freshman Vincent Kipropmade a splash of his first collegiate event by winning the First to the Finish Southern Stampede this morning at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.
Kiprop ran the 8k course in a time of 24:15.96 and is the second-straight MSSU runner to take home the individual title joining Eric Schott from 2014. Nathan Henry placed 42nd in a time of 25:39.22, while Jared Haltom was 95th in a time of 26:22.17.
Jacob Coffman placed 151st in a time of 27:16.03, while Luke Johnson was 194th in a time of 27:56.71. Ryan Drendelfinished 208th in a time of 28:12.48.
Southern finished 14th s a team, earning 392 team points. East Central University was the team champion with 121 points. Nebraska-Kearney placed second, followed by Pittsburg State, Harding and UC - San Diego to round out the top five team scores.
The Lions will be back in action on October 3 when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the Chili Pepper Invite at the University of Arkansas.
