MSSU soccer opens play Thursday

The Missouri Southern Women's Soccer Team will start their 2015 season this week in Springfield, Mo.

The Lions will kick off the 2015 season with their annual trip to Springfield to face Drury on Thursday September 3 at 5 pm. That game has been moved from Harrison Stadium to the Cooper Soccer Complex at,2300 - 2700 E. Pythian St., Springfield, MO. Southern will then return to Springfield on Saturday, September 5th to take on Missouri S&T at Harrison Stadium with a 5 pm kick off.

The Lions are coming off a 3-1 exhibition loss to NCAA D-1 Tulsa on Sunday August 28. Senior forward Karley Thomas score the Lions lone goal as she put home a shot from three yards out on the left side off assists from fellow seniors Kayla Gajewksi and Kimmy Hulse. Senior goalie Shawnee Phillips made her Green & Gold debut, recording 10 saves in the contest.
