Missouri Southern freshman distance runner Vincent Kiprop has been named the MIAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Kiprop, a native of Kericho, Kenya, won the Southern Stampede this weekend. He ran the 8k course in a time of 24:15.96 and is the second-straight MSSU runner to take home the individual title joiningEric Schott from 2014. His time was three seconds in front of his nearest competitor and is 17 seconds better than Schott's time from 2014. Kiprop was running in his first collegiate race.
The Lions will be back in action on Oct. 3, when Southern travels to the University of Arkansas for the Chili Pepper Invite.
