MSSU soccer falls to Nebraska-Kearney in overtime

The Missouri Southern soccer team picked up a late goal from Hannah Bomar, but the Lions fell 2-1 tonight in overtime at Nebraska-Kearney.

UNK (2-3-2, 1-0 MIAA) scored first in the ninth minute when Montanna Hosterman scored off a direct kick to give the Lopers a 1-0 lead they would take into halftime.

The Lions, however, answered in the 59th minute when Bomar picked up goal number three of the season off an assist from Michaela Altvater from seven yards out.

The Southern defense held strong for the final 30 minutes of the game to force overtime, but UNK's Ashtin Pawloski scored in the first minute of overtime to win the game for the Lopers.

UNK out shot the Lions 12-4 and Shawnee Phillps had six saves in goal.

The Lions will be back in action Sunday when they travel to Fort Hays to take on the Tigers. Match time is slated for 2:30 pm.
