The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced their 2015 MIAA Academic Honor Roll and Scholar-Athlete Soccer Awards this past weekend.
Thirteen Lions earned the academic honors which required the student-athletes to have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better with at least two semesters at the member institution for the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. The Scholar-Athlete award goes to those with 3.5 GPAs or higher and were a member of the 2015 All-MIAA team.
Seniors Michalea Altvater (3.8 - Biology), Kayla Gajewski (3.1 - Biochemistry), Kacie Hulse (3.8 - Health Science), Kimmy Hulse(3.6 - Nursing), Hannah Ishmael (3.6 - Spanish) and Karley Thomas (3.2 - Nursing) earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll honors. Joining the six seniors were junior Hannah Cook (3.5 - Dental Hygiene) and sophomores Taylor Beck (3.3 - Nursing),Hannah Bomar (3.1 - Elementary Education), Brooke Ishmael(3.8 - Biology), Ronise Miller (3.2 - Health Promotions & Wellness), and Anissa Williams (3.6 - Physical/Occupational Therapy). Junior Carly Cecil earned Scholar-Athlete honors with a 3.7 GPA in Biology-Pre Med while being named honorable mention All-MIAA this fall.
One hundred and thirty-nine MIAA Students Athletes in women's soccer have been named to the 2015 MIAA Academic Honor Roll and of those 139 student-athletes 23 have earned the MIAA Scholar Athlete Award. Newcomers and MIAA Academic Excellence Awards will be given out following the end of the 2015-16 school year.
