MSSU men defeat Livin' the Dream 117-79

Isaac Kreuer had an impressive debut in the Green and Gold with 22 points and 18 rebounds as the Missouri Southern men's basketball team took out Livin' The Dream tonight in exhibition play, 117-79 on Robert Corn Court inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

Southern was led by Kreuer's 10-13 night. He went 2-4 from the free-throw line. Brady Petry had 14 points and 11 rebounds, going 6-7 from the field and 2-2 from long-range.Charlie Brown and Taevaunn Prince scored 11 each, whileAndrew Ballock had ten points on 4-7 shooting.

LTD was led in scoring by Jason Adams with 21 points, going 5-8 from the three-point line. Boo Richardson had 16 points, while Kelvin Parker scored 14.

The Lions opened up an 11-3 lead early on after a jumper fromBlaine Miller with 14 minutes left in the half. Southern led by 16 (35-19) after a layup from Kreuer with 9:13 left in the half and the lead was 19 (46-27) after a three from Wright with 4:11 left in the half.

LTD went on an 11-2 run to cut the lead to ten (48-38) after a three from Adams, but the Lions pushed the lead back to 15, before a last-second layup from Richardson made the score 56-43 at the break.

Southern opened up a 22 point lead at the 14-minute mark of the second half when a three from Petry made the score 74-52. A dunk from Prince off an assist on a fast break from Petry made the Lion's lead 37 (91-54) and a layup from Kreuer the next trip down gave the Lions their largest lead of the night at 39 (93-54).

LTD cut the lead to 27 after a layup from Britton with 5:25 left to go, but the Lions would push the lead back to 38 with the final bucket, a three from Petry with 36 seconds to go.

The Lions shot 56 percent from the field and 42 percent from long-range. Southern forced 20 turnovers on the night.

Southern will open the regular season next weekend, playing host to the MIAA/NSIC Challenge. The Lions will play St. Cloud State on Friday at 7 pm and Minnesota State on Saturday at 5 pm.
