MSSU women to play at Truman State Saturday

The Missouri Southern Women's Basketball team will hit the road for a non-conference match up with Truman State University on Saturday afternoon.

Tip-off from Pershing Arena is scheduled for 1 pm. The Lions will visit Kirksville for the first time since Truman left the MIAA to join the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the 2013-14 season. Southern (3-0) is coming off an impressive 70-58 win over Minnesota State Mankato Wednesday evening at Robert Corn Court inside The Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. MSU was the eighth seed in last season's NCAA Central Regional and lost to the number one seed Fort Hays State 74-57 in the first round in Hays, Kansas. Junior Deb Holcomb led the Lions with 20 points while senior Sharese Jones added 17. Sophomore Jenson Maydew pulled down a career-high ten rebounds in the win with Holcomb and Jones adding seven and six, respectively.

Series Notes
Truman leads the series 23-22 with the 67-64 win in Joplin last season. The Bulldogs have won four in a row and six of the last seven games against Southern. The longest winning streak for either team is eight games. Southern won their eight games from January 1992 through February 1997. Truman's eight game winning streak came on the heels of the Lions' with Truman winning from January 1998 through February 2001. Southern last won in Kirksville on December 3, 2003 and TSU has won the last four at Pershing Arena and six of the last seven there.
