Missouri Southern Women's Basketball head coach Ronda Hubbard announced the signing of Liberty HS senior Sydney Offield for the 2016-17 season.
In three years at LHS, Offield has averaged 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 steals, and 2.3 assists per contest for the Blue Jays. During her junior season Offield and the Blue Jays finished second in MSHSAA Class 5 state tournament with Offield earning first team All-Conference and first team All-District honors. On that run to the state championship game Liberty HS won the KC Suburban Conference Gold title, the MSHSAA Class 5 District 15 title, and the MSHSAA Class 5 sectional title. She will be starting her senior year at point guard for the fourth straight season under head coach Noah Simpson.
"Sydney made an immediate impact on me the first time I saw her play. She is a special individual and a very special player," said Hubbard. "She runs a team from the point the way I believe it should be ran. Extreme Positive energy, very vocal, super aggressive, and just makes the players around her better. Not to mention the intangibles that are important to success. Hard worker, super coachable. Sydney will quickly become a Lion favorite just because of how hard she plays the game."
Offield also is a stand out for the Blue Jays on the track earning All-Conference honors both her freshman and junior years in the 4x400, and her in the 4x800 during her junior year. She is a three time All-District honoree in the 4x400 and earned All-District and All-State honors during her junior season in the 4x800.
Offield is the daughter of Amanda Dirck and Robert Offield and plans on majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in French.
