The Missouri Southern baseball program, off to the best start in program history, has debuted this week at No. 14 in the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II Poll.
The Lions are ranked third in the Baseball Writers Central Region Poll and Southern is also ranked 22nd in the d2baseballnews.com national Division II poll.
This is the first time since the 2012 season the Lions have been ranked. That year, Southern started the year 11-0 and were ranked 24th the first time in the poll and the Lions were ranked as high as 11th that season.
Southern is off to a 12-0 start and an 8-0 mark in MIAA play. The 12-straight wins to start the season is a program-best and it's the longest winning streak since the Lions won 20 in a row in 1994.
The Lions are slated to play a single, nine-inning game at Missouri S&T tomorrow at 2 pm and Southern will play host to Emporia State this weekend in a four-game slate.
