MSSU women's track picked to finish second in MIAA

The Missouri Southern women's track and field team has been picked to finish second in the 2014 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Coaches Poll, the league announced today. 
Fresh off a 29th-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships, the Lions also finished second in the 2014 MIAA Indoor Championships held in Joplin.
Lincoln was picked first in the poll, with the Lions trailing by only 11 points in second and receiving one first-place vote in the process. Central Missouri was third, followed by Pittsburg State, Nebraska-Kearney, Southwest Baptist, Emporia State, Northwest Missouri, Fort Hays, Central Oklahoma and Lindenwood to round out the poll.
The Lions will open up the 2014 outdoor season this weekend, competing at the Pittsburg State Invite.
