Off to its best start in program history, the Missouri Southern baseball program can add another honor as senior pitcher David Reese has been named the MIAA's Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Reese, a 6-2 native of Olathe, Kan., has helped the Lions to a 12-0 on the season and 8-0 in MIAA play as Southern has opened up its best start in school history.
Reese pitched game one of a four-game sweep against Fort Hays. He went the distance for the complete-game shutout, limiting the Tigers to just one hit, while striking out nine and walking none. He allowed only four batters to reach, two to get to second base and just one reached third and sent down the last ten batters in a row.
Reese and the Lions are slated to play a single, nine-inning game at Missouri S&T tomorrow at 2 pm and Southern will play host to Emporia State this weekend in a four-game slate.
