MSSU men's track in second place at MIAA championships

The Missouri Southern men's track and field team won two events and the Lions sit in second place, eight points out of first after day two of the 2014 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 
Eric Schott won the 5k today, storming ahead in the final straightaway on the last lap to earn All-MIAA status with a provisional time of 14:33.95. Alex Mason and Jake Benton placed 10th and 13th, respectively in the event. 
The distance medley team of Andrew WebsterAnthony PriceMiles Migliara and Tyler Rush took home the title in the race. With the Lions trailing slightly going into the final leg of the race, Rush stormed ahead in the last mile and helped the Lions set a new MIAA meet record with a provisional time of 10:13.96. 
Darion Boure was second in the triple jump, while Clark Tanksley finished third. Both earned All-MIAA honors as Boure turned in a provisional distance of 48-10.25, and Tanksley jumping to a provisional distance of 47-01.50.
Bryan Burns was fourth in the weight throw in a distance of 55-07.50, while Nicklas Polizzi placed 14th. 
In other action, Jazz Allen qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles, while Jeff Fraley and Erron Holley qualified in both the 60m and 200m dash. Fraley had the top time in both events. Price qualified for the finals in the 400m dash, while Miles Migliara qualified for the finals of the 800m. 
Southern scored 39 points in day two and sit just eight points behind first-place Pittsburg State, while the Lions are six points in front of third place Nebraska-Kearney. 
Southern will be back in action tomorrow morning with the final day of competition. Field events begin at 10 am, while the running event finals begin at 2:30 pm.
