Missouri Southern junior lefty Payton Walker has been named the MIAA/AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Walker threw one of three complete-game shutouts for the Lions this weekend against Lincoln. In his game he allowed just one hit and promptly picked off the runner. He faced the minimum batters in the game, striking out eight and walking none.
Walker and the Lions will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as Southern plays host to Pittsburg State in a double-header at Turner Field. First pitch of the Sate Farm Trophy Series matchup is slated for 3 pm.
