John Johnson named MSSU running backs coach

Missouri Southern head football coach Denver Johnson has announced the addition of John Johnson to his coaching staff.

Johnson will be responsible for coaching the running backs at MSSU. He comes to Southern after a season at the University of Tulsa where he worked closely with Lions' head coach Denver Johnson on the offensive side of the ball.

Prior to Tulsa, Johnson spent one season as the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator at Oklahoma Baptist University. Before that, Johnson worked four seasons at Ouachita Baptist University. He was the running backs coach and strength & conditioning coordinator for OBU for two seasons before becoming receivers coach.

Johnson played three seasons at Oklahoma State (2004-07) before transferring to complete his career at Ouachita Baptist University (2008) as a fullback.

Johnson earned his bachelor's degree in Education from Oklahoma State University in 2008.
