MSSU women's track opens MIAA Championships Friday

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern women's track and field team will open up the 2014 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships tomorrow afternoon in Jefferson City as Lincoln University plays host to the event.
The Lions are ranked fourth in the latest regional poll and will open up the championships tomorrow with the heptathlon as Kaylee Morgan is looking to improve her provisional mark she had earlier in the season at the Cowley Multis. Morgan has two of the 12 NCAA provisional qualifying marks for the Lions this season as she ranks 20th in the long jump, while ranking 18th in the heptathlon.
Kylie Cornman has the Lions' lone automatic mark as she has qualified for nationals in the shot put already, ranking ninth in the event. Whitney Hardy ranks 8th in the high jump nationally, while Brittani Reagan ranks 12th in the long jump and 19th in the triple jump.
Amber White has three provisional marks this year, ranking 20th in the 400m, 27th in the 200m and 30th in the triple jump. Kindra Emberton ranks 24th in the 800m, while Kaitlyn Belisle ranks 37th in the 5k. Ashleigh McFarland ranks 30th in the pole vault.
Morgan will start the heptathlon on Friday at 2:30 pm from Dwight T Reed Stadium in Jefferson City. She will compete in the 100m hurdles, the high jump, the shot put and the 200m. She will finish up with the long jump, javelin and the 800m at 11 am on Saturday, while the rest of the team will begin the competition at 12:30 pm for the field events. Running events start at 4 pm on Saturday.
