Missouri Southern women's basketball coach Ronda Hubbard has announced the addition of local product Casey Heger to her 2014-15 recuriting class.
Heger, a Webb City native, comes to Southern after a season at Cottey College and will have three years of eligibility left.
Heger played for head coach Dave Ketterman and the Comets where she earned first-team All-Region honors and was an NJCAA All-American nominee averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.
A 2013 graduate of nearby Webb City High School, Heger was a three-year letter winner at center for the Cardinals and coach Brad Shorter averaging 15 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior earning All-District honors and helping Webb City to a runner-up finish at the state tournament in 2013.
Heger is the daughter of Dennis Heger, an alumni of Missouri Southern, and plans to major in social work and criminal justice.
"Casey is going to be expected to fill a big role left behind by two great players in Shonte (Clay) and Dominique (Mosley)," Hubbard said. "She clearly was a huge contributor on Webb City's state runner up team and put up stellar numbers at Cottey. She is a big, strong player at 6-2, with great versatility to both face the basket and shoot the perimeter shot and score with her back to the basket. There is no doubt that we are thrilled to have Casey as a member of our Lion family."
