Schott takes 13th in 10K at NCAA championships

Missouri Southern junior distance runner Eric Schott placed 13th tonight in the 10k at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. 
The event, being held in Allendale, Mich. on the campus of Grand Valley State University is in its first day. 
Schott, a Cape Girardeau native, came into the event ranked eighth nationally as he broke the MSSU school record in the event with a time of 29:39.10 at the Mt. Sac Relays last month. 
He placed 13th today as he completed the 10k trek with a time of 30:28.14, just under a minute off the winning pace. 
The Lions will have one athlete in action tomorrow as Clark Tanksley will compete in the high jump at 3:30 pm central time.
