Missouri Southern sophomore Kaylee Morgan sits in fourth place after day one of the heptathlon at the 2014 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
Morgan sits just under 300 points out of the lead after the first four events of the heptathlon. She started the day with a fourth-place finish in the 100m hurdles, finishing the race in a time of 15.05. She finished third in the high jump, clearing 5-05, and was tenth in the shot put and ninth in the 200m.
Central Missouri's Madison Smith leads the field with a total of 3,240 points after four events. Morgan has 2,942 going into day two.
Morgan will finish up with the long jump, javelin and the 800m at 11 am on Saturday from Dwight T. Reed Stadium, while the rest of the team will begin the competition at 12:30 pm for the field events. Running events start at 4 pm on Saturday.
