The Missouri Southern golf team finished in seventh place today after the final round of the 2014 UCO Broncho Invite held at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City, Okla. The event is the last regular-season MIAA points event on the schedule.
Ryan Buerk finished tied for 20th as he shot a final-round 74 to finish with a three-round 231. Taylor Lansfordand Ethan Hutcheson finished tied for 33rd with a 238, while Ryan Russell was tied for 39th at 239. Andrew Maier shot a 246, while Phillip Roller shot a 249.
The Lions shot a final-round 312 as a team and finished with a 54-hole total of 942. Central Oklahoma won the team title, finishing five strokes in front of Central Missouri. Northeastern State was third, followed by a tie at fourth between Nebraska-Kearney and Lindenwood. Missouri Western was sixth, followed by Southern, Lincoln, Fort Hays, Washburn, Pittsburg State and Southwest Baptist to round out the team scores.
The Lions sit in eighth place in the MIAA standings after three points events. Southern will compete at the Henderson State Invite next week at Branson Creek Golf Club in Hollister, Mo. The MIAA Championship will be held on April 21-23 and will be worth double points toward the MIAA title. Current standings are listed below.
