(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)
Missouri Southern junior Eric Schott broke the MSSU 10k school record Thursday night at the Mt. Sac Relays as a trio of distance runners competed at two events for the Lions.
Schott finished fifth in the 10k Olympic Development Elite race at the 56th Annual Mt. Sac Relays held in Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College. He finished the race in a time of 29:39.10, beating the old record of 30:03.57 by 24 seconds. The previous mark was coincidently set by Brennan Benkert at the very same race in 2010.
Schott was bested only by three Division I runners and the race winner was a member of the Mexican National Team.
In other action, Colton Wooldridge won the 3k steeple chase at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence. He finished in a time of 9:29.24, while fellow Lion Alex Mason was third in a time of 9:35.82 as the pair ran at the brand new Rock Chalk Park on the campus of the University of Kansas.
The Lions will have a group of throwers competing at the Mule Relays at Central Missouri tonight (Friday), while the remainder of the team will be competing at Missouri S&T on Saturday.
