The Missouri Southern women's track and field team won five events today at the 2014 Missouri S&T Dewey Allgood Invitational held today in Rolla.
Amber White led the way as the sprinter won both the 200m and the 400m dashes. She won the 200m in a time of 24.85 and picked up a win in the 400m in a provisional time of 55.68. Traci Walker and Taylor Alumbaugh placed 6th and 7th in the 200m, while JeAnna Sheppard placed 15th in the event.
Whitney Hardy picked up a solid provisional in the high jump, winning the event in a height of 5-08. That mark ranks 8th nationally. Shelby Sutherland was second, while Alumbaugh placed third in the event.
Ashleigh McFarland placed second in the pole vault with a provisional height of 11-11.75, while Sydney Haaseplaced 7th. Kaylee Morgan was second in the long jump with a provisional distance of 19-00.75, while Brittani Reagan was third, Shelby Newell placed fifth and Walker was 13th.
Reagan placed third in the triple jump with a provisional distance of 39-10.50, while White was fifth and Mahogany Jones placed ninth. Morgan was third in the javelin, while Alumbaugh was 8th.
Sheppard placed 6th in the 100m hurdles, while Dora Eastin won the 1,500m with a time of 4:47.52. Dana Roberson was third, while Kelly Jo Roberts was 6th and Jet Hovis placed 10th. Sierra Gray won the 3k steeple chase in a time of 12:14.74, while Sydney Potts won the 800m in a time of 2:16.33. Kayla Bartelsmeyer was fifth in the 3k with a time of 11:26.37.
In other action today, Kindra Emberton placed 7th in the 800m seeded race at the Kansas Relays. She ran the event in a time of 2:12.50.
The Lions will be back in action next Friday as Southern plays host to the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invite at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
