Southern golfer Ryan Buerk qualifies for NCAA Regional

Missouri Southern junior golfer Ryan Buerk has been named as an individual qualifier to the 2014 NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Golf Regional the NCAA announced today. 
The event will take place on May 5-7 at Fox Run Golf Course in Eureka, Mo. and it is hosted by the University of Missouri - St. Louis. 
Buerk is one of four individuals to qualify for the event joining Trey Herman of Fort Hays, Ross Miller of Minnesota State and Kowan O'Keefe of Minot State as other individual representatives from the Central Region. 
Buerk had two top-five finishes this year with a third place finish at the First Federal Bank Invite, hosted by Henderson State, as well as a fourth-place finish at the Texhoma Championship in the fall, in Chickasaw, Oklahoma. 
He finished 15th this past weekend at the 2014 MIAA Championships, shooting a 225 over the three-round tournament. 
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 19-23, at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's medal-match portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by Grand Valley State University.
