A pair of ninth-inning home runs helped the Central Oklahoma Bronchos come-from-behind to defeat the Missouri Southern Baseball team, winning 8-6 in the series finale at Joe Becker Stadium.
Southern (23-22, 16-20 MIAA) went up 5-2 after two innings. Beau Phillips scored the first run in the second on a wild pitch and Jared Lupo scored on an RBI from Austin White. Evin Natick then walked with the bases loaded to score Nathan Skaggs. A pair of sacrifice flies then followed from Axel Johnson and Dusty Harper scoring White and Logan Moon.
Central Oklahoma (32-11, 25-11 MIAA) added a run in the top of the third, but the Lions answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single from Natick to put the Lions up 6-3 after three innings.
Lions' starter Matt Harvey settled in and held the Bronchos scoreless for the next three innings, but was tagged for two runs in the seventh to cut the Southern lead to 6-5 after seven.
Kanon Hoover threw a third of an inning of scoreless relief and Stephen Vaughn entered in the eighth and got the Lions out of a jam to head to the ninth.
The Bronchos picked up home runs from Phillip Wilson and Cesar Wong to start the ninth and added another run to make the final tally 8-6.
Moon walked four times in the game and scored once. Natick went 1-2 with a pair of RBIs and three walks, while Lupo went 2-4 with a run scored. Skaggs scored twice, while Phillips scored once. White went 1-3 with a run and an RBI.
Harvey started and went six and two thirds, striking out four and allowing three earned runs. Hoover, Vaughn and Noble pitched in relief.
