MSSU men's basketball adds junior college transfer

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Missouri Southern basketball coach Jeff Boschee has announced the addition of Delta State transfer Joey Lillis to his 2014-15 recruiting class. Lillis will be a sophomore in eligibility and will begin play with the Lions this upcoming season.
Lillis, a 6-8, 207 pound forward, comes to Southern after a season at Division II Delta State University in Mississippi. As a freshman at DSU, Lillis played in ten games for the Statesmen. He helped guide Delta State to a 26-7 overall record, Gulf South Conference regular season title and an NCAA Sweet 16 finish. He averaged 1.2 points and 0.5 rebounds per game and finished the year shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He scored a career-high four points against then-No. 9 Florida Southern and was named to the GSC Academic Honor Roll.
A native of Olathe, Kan., Lillis prepped at Blue Valley West High School where he was a three-year letter winner and two-year starter for the Jaguars and coach Donnie Campbell. He was an All-Conference and All-State selection and holds the school record for rebounds in a game and in a season.
He helped Blue Valley West to a 2012 McPherson Invitational Championship, as well as a Kansas Sub-State title in 2011 and 2013. The Jaguars finished as the runner-up in the 2013 Kansas State Championship.
Lillis is the son of Joe and Christy Lillis and plans to major in kinesiology at Missouri Southern. His grandfather, Tom Lillis, played at Saint Louis University and was drafted by the Boston Celtics.
