MSSU women sign point guard

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Missouri Southern women's basketball coach Ronda Hubbard has announced the addition of Anna Hignight to round out the team's 2014-15 recruiting class.
Hignight, a 5-7 guard, is a native of Independence, Kan., where she started all four seasons for coach Dale Reynolds and the Bulldogs of Independence High School.
A three-time All-SEK selection, Hignight was also a three-time All-Area and All-State pick. She was a two-time unanimous 1st-team All-SEK selection, while being named first-team All-Area twice. A two-time member of the Wilson County Classic All-Tournament team, Hignight is her school's sixth-leading scorer as she finished her four-year career with 1,043 points.
Also a decorated cross country and swimming athlete at IHS, Hignight was a four-year letterwinner on the cross country team and a three-year letterwinner for the swimming team. She was a four-time All-SEK selection on the cross country course.
The daughter of James and Nancy Hignight, Anna is undecided on her future college major.
"Anna is the fifth player to round out our freshman class," Hubbard said. "We are really excited about her potential. She is a really good point guard with great basketball IQ. Anna does a nice job of making the players around her better and that is a major key to being an outstanding point. She is athletic with a great work ethic and we believe she is going to improve our depth at the point position immediately."
