Missouri Southern sophomore Kaylee Morgan placed second in the heptathlon at the 2014 Cowley Tiger Heptathlon today.
The Carthage native finished with a provisional total of 4,685 points, which currently puts her seventh nationally in the event.
The point total is also the third-highest all-time in the history of the event at Southern, behind two marks from former Lion Lisa Vengels. The mark is just under 200 points off of the school record.
Morgan finished fourth in the 100m and won the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters. She then placed fourth in the shot put and the 200m, finishing second after day one events.
Morgan started day two, placing second in the long jump with a leap of 5.56 meters, and then placed fifth in the javelin and sixth in the 800m to round out the day.
Morgan and the Lions will pick things back up this weekend, competing at Pittsburg State on Saturday.
