Missouri Southern junior utility player Chris Hoffman has been named the MIAA/AstroTurf Baseball Hitter of the Week as announced by the league today.
Hoffman, a 6-1 native of Lake Villa, Ill., has helped the Lions to a 10-0 start to the season. This week (last week's games against College of the Ozarks included) Hoffman hit .682 with 11 runs, 15 hits, three doubles, two triples, a home run and three RBI's. In total he had 25 total bases and slugged 1.136, while carting a .720 on base percentage.
He also picked up a complete game victory on the mound during the week, posting a 1-0 record in seven innings with a 1.29 ERA and three strikeous and no walks.
Hoffman and the Lions play host to Arkansas-Fort Smith today at 1 pm and then travel to Hays, Kan. this weekend for a four-game series with Fort Hays State.
