MSSU's Buerk tied for first after 54 holes

Ryan Buerk finished tied for first after the 54 holes at 4-under 209 at the Rattler Invitational hosted by St. Mary's University at The Republic Golf Club.

Buerk led all Lions as he finished the tournament with birdies on holes two, six, eight, and eighteen to go into the club house tied with Austin Jordan of NCAA D-I's Incarnate Word. Buerk finished round three with an even par 71 to go along with his first round of 3-under 68 and second round 1-under 70. In the playoff, both Jordan and Buerk shot par on the first three holes with Jordan taking the playoff on 18 with a birdie.

Taylor Lansford once again was the biggest mover of the Lions as he moved up six spots into a tie for 17th following his third round two over 73 to give him a three round total of 223, +10. Lansford birdied holes two, four, and nine in round three to go along with his birdies on holes six and nine in yesterday's round two.

Chas Goines moved up five spots into a tie for 50th as he finished round three with a six over 77. Goines birdied holes fifteen and sixteen today to go along with birdies on six, nine, and sixteen in rounds one and two.Trae Fairchild finished the three round tournament with a 239 (77-78-84) while Connor Neil finished the 54 holes with a total of 245 (79-80-86).

The Lions finished in 10th with a three round total of 906 (302-299-305), one stroke behind Oklahoma Christian, 905, and five strokes behind host St. Mary's, 901. St. Edward's held on to outlast Incarnate Word for the team title with a three round total of 866 to IWU's 867.

The Lions will be back in action next week as they travel to the Broncho Invite at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.
