Southern mounted a comeback in the sixth as Goins-Osburn, Stewart, and Brooke Swadley all singled to the right side of the field. Sarah Williams would come up no outs and the bases loaded and stroke a single to left that scored Dakoda Owings, running for Goins-Osburn, and Stewart. Lindsey Gorham was up next and sent a rocket to left that scored Swadley to give Southern their first lead of the day at 3-2. Hester's ground out to shortstop scored Williams for the 4-2 lead.
William Jewell had its chance in the top of the seventh to tie as Bernard lead off with a single to left center and advanced to second on Dolman's one out single that died along the third base line. Both runners advanced a base on a ground out to short and Mitchell would get McGraw, pinch hitting for Potvin, to ground out to Wood for the final out and secure the 4-2 win.
