MSSU women win two events, have six All-MIAA showings

The Missouri Southern women's track and field team picked up a pair of event wins and six All-MIAA performances in the final day of the 2015 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Central Missouri.

The Lions finished fourth as a team as Central Missouri took home the team title with 159 points. Lincoln was second with 142 points, while Pittsburg State (92), Southern (90) and Nebraska-Kearney (53) round out the top five team scores. Southwest Baptist was sixth, followed by Emporia State, Lindenwood, Northwest Missouri, Fort Hays and Central Oklahoma.

Kindra Emberton (pictured) picked up a strong provisional and a win in the 800m, finishing in a time of 2:13.98. Here prelim time of 2:12.39, when converted for a banked track, ranks 7th nationally. Dora Eastin was sixth in the event in a time of 2:21.06.

Emily Harris won the mile in a provisional time of 4:58.93. Dana Roberson was tenth and Addie Mengwasserplaced 12th.

In other action, Amber White placed second in the finals of the 400m with a prelim time of 55.61. That time, when converted for a banked track, ranks her 13th nationally. White also placed seventh in the 200m finals in a time of 25.68.

Kaitlyn Belisle placed second in the 3k in a time of 9:53.32. That time, when converted is a provisional mark that ranks her 27th nationally. Harris was fifth in the event, while Sierra Gray placed ninth.

Brittani Reagan was second in the long jump with a provisional distance of 18-06.50, while Kaylee Morganplaced third in a provisional distance of 18-05.75. Shelby Newell was eighth.

The mile relay team of Destiny Akannam, Traci Walker, Morgan and Eastin placed 11th, while Shelby Sutherland was 11th in the high jump.

Alexis Acklin was ninth in the shot put, while Katie Skelton was 14th and Jenson Maydew placed 15th.

In all, the Lions picked up 12 All-MIAA performances in this year's meet. Those marks are listed below. Southern will now wait until the national list comes out to see who has qualified for the National Championships in Birmingham.
