MSSU golf in fifth place at Hollister match

The Missouri Southern golf team is in fifth place, eight strokes off the lead, after day one of the 2014 Henderson State/First Federal Bank Invite held at Branson Creek Country Club in Hollister, Mo.
Ryan Buerk leads the Lions after shooting a one-under 71 through the first 18 holes. He is tied for second place, two strokes off the leader. Andrew Maier is tied for ninth place with a two-over 74, while Taylor Lansford is tied for 22nd with a 76. Skyler Arbuckle shot a first-round 80, while Ethan Hutcheson registered an 84. Austin Karnes, playing as an individual, shot an 86. 
Arkansas Tech leads the team scores with a five-over 293. Henderson State, Delta State and Harding are tied in second with a 300, and the Lions are one stroke back with a 301. Southwestern Oklahoma State is sixth, followed by Lindenwood, Murray State CC, Missorui Western, Sioux Falls and John Brown.
The final round will be played tomorrow on the same course.
