The Missouri Southern Lions women's basketball team had five players named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Friday as senior center Shonte Clay earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors.
To be eligible for the honor roll, a student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 and have at least two terms of attendance at the school. To be eligible for the scholar-athlete honors, a student athlete must has a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5, two terms of attendance at school, and earn All-MIAA honors.
Clay earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors as the senior center from Chicago, Ill. carries a 3.517 GPA in communication and earned All-MIAA honorable mentions after averaging 10.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game playing in all 27 games.
In addition to Clay, four other Lions were named to the MIAA Academic honor roll as seniors Tee Singleton(Criminal Justice), Samantha Soyez (Kinesiology) and Jolee Sharp (Kinesiology) along with Kristen Hanna(Communication) rounded out the honors for the Lions.
