MSSU men ride big second half to 92-79 win over Central Oklahoma

The Missouri Southern men's basketball team scored 58 points in the second half as the Lions held on for a 92-79 win at Central Oklahoma tonight. 
Southern (10-2, 4-1 MIAA) wins a big road contest as Marquis Addison led the scoring attack that saw five Lions score in double-figures. Addison scored 18 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line. Slim Magee scored 15 points on 7-8 shooting, while Austin Wright hit 4-5 from long range for 13 points on the night. 
Greg Renfroe scored 12 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Cameron Cornelius scored 10 points and added four assists. Jordan Talbert scored six points, but added eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks. 
Central Oklahoma (9-4, 3-3 MIAA) was led in scoring by Josh Gibbs with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Cal Andrews scored 16 points and Aaron Anderson scored 15. 
Southern opened up a seven-point lead in the first half when a layup from Magee gave the Lions a 17-10 lead wtih 12:33 left in the half. The lead was ten (23-13) after a layup from Renfroe with just over eight minutes left, but the Bronchos slowly chipped away at the Lions' lead. UCO went on a 17-6 run to take a 30-29 lead after a pair of free-throws from Anderson with two minutes left. The game was tied at 32, but a steal and a last-second jumper fromMatt Everson as the buzzer sounded gave the Lions a 34-33 lead at the break. 
The Lions quickly opened up a seven-point lead with 18:14 left in the second half on a three form Everson and led by 11 with 15 minutes to go on a layup from Magee. The lead was as high as 16 (80-64) after a pair of freebies from Addison with 4:56 left to go in the game. 
Southern shot 61 percent from the field in the game and 46 percent from long range, while knocking in 73 percent of its free-throws. 
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as the Lions travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to take on Northeastern State. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 pm.
