MSSU women win three events in first day of invitational track meet

The Missouri Southern women's track and field team took home three events today in the first day of the 2014 Missouri Southern Invitational at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 
Brittani Reagan took home the title in the long jump with a provisional distance of 18-05.75. Amber White andKaylee Morgan tied for second with a distance of 17-08, while Shelby NewellEmily Paullus and Taylor Alumbaugh were 4th, 6th and 9th, respectively. 
The distance medley relay team of Emily Harris, Amber White, Kindra Emberton and Dora Eastin won the event in a time of 12:34.87, while Cassy Kendrick took the title in the 5k with a time of 19:24.45. Kylie Cornman finished third in the weight throw with a distance of 52-01.25. 
In the sprints, Emily Paullus and Kaylee Morgan qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles, while Jasmin Hughesand Traci Walker were 6th and 8th in the 200m dash. Hughes just missed out on qualifying for the finals of the 60m dash. 
Events will get underway tomorrow morning at 10:30 am.
