The Missouri Southern women's track and field team took home nine titles in the final day of the 2014 MSSU Invite held today in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Southern got off to a great start with a 1-2-3 finish in the triple jump. Brittani Reagan won the event with a provisional distance of 38-05, while Amber White was second with a provisional mark of 38-03.25. Shelby Newellwas third, while Mahogany Jones placed fifth.
Kylie Cornman picked up a win with a strong provisional in the shot put. She hit a distance of 48-02.75 and that mark is fifth in Division II. Kaitlyn Belisle won the 3k with a time of 10:25.42, while Dora Eastin and Sierra Graywere third and fifth, respectively. Lizzy Kirby was sixth, while Kayla Bartelsmeyer placed ninth.
Dana Roberson won the 800m with a time of 2:26.72, while Kindra Emberton took home the title in the 600y with a time of 1:27.62. White won the 400m with a time of 58.9, while Whitney Hardy picked up a provisional with a win in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-05.25 to move into tenth place in D-2. Shelby Sutherland was second in the high jump with a height of 5-01.25.
Emily Harris won the mile with a time of 5:09.64, while the 4x400m relay team of Jasmin Hughes, Hardy, White and Emberton won the event with a time of 4:05.70. In the pole vault, Sydney Haase and Ashleigh McFarlandplaced third and fourth, respectively, both clearing a height of 11-03.75.
The Lions will be back in action in two weeks, splitting action at the Jayhawk Classic and Central Missouri.
