Mujica signs two-year deal with Red Sox

Though the Cardinals did not see fit to  use him during the World Series, former closer Edward Mujica must have impressed the world champion Red Sox anyway.

Boston signed Mujica to a two-year $9.5 million deal.

Mujica, 29, became a free agent at the end of the season. The Cardinals did not pursue the righty, suggesting early this offseason that there wasn't room for both Mujica and John Axford in the bullpen and describing within the past couple weeks how the bullpen is positioned to not add a veteran arm at all this winter.
Jason Motte's return from Tommy John surgery and whatever righty doesn't crack the starting rotation will fill the openings.
Trevor Rosenthal, who replaced Mujica at closer, will start 2014 as the Cardinals closer, officials have said.
