Royals sign Omar Infante to four-year contract

The New York Yankees may have beaten the Royals in the Carlos Beltran sweepstakes, but this time Kansas City won a free agent the Yankees were after.

The Royals signed Detroit free agent second baseman Omar Infante to a four-year contract today. Reportedly, the fourth year was the sticking point for New York.

Those who remember Infante from his National League days know that, even though he played only second base for the Tigers last year, he can play any position in the infield and outfield.
