If you think the St. Louis Cardinals' young pitchers are good, wait until you see them with a vastly improved defense behind them.
That's the message in an article posted today on MLB.com.
The writer says the Cardinals' off-season moves have improved them defensively at three positions- third base where Matt Carpenter is better than the departed David Freese, second base- where either Kolten Wong or free agent signee Mark Ellis are better than Carpenter, and center field, where Peter Journos, picked up in the trade that sent Freese and Fernando Salas to the Angels, may be one of the two or three best center fielders in the majors.
