The NCAA released its final Division II statistics today and the Missouri Southern football team led the country in time of possession this season, while ranking second in rushing yardage.
The Lions held the ball for an average of 35:14 in each game this season and that ranked tops in all of Division II. Southern rushed the ball for an average of 368.4 yards per game, just two yards per game behind national leader and national runner-up Lenoir-Rhyne.
The Lions had just three passes intercepted all season long and that ranked second, one behind national leader Carson Newman. Southern also ranked fifth nationally in both tackles for a loss allowed and passing yards per completion.
The Lions ranked sixth in third down completion percentage, eighth in sacks allowed and ninth in fourth down conversion percentage. They also ranked tenth in first down defense.
In all, the Lions ranked in the top ten nationally in nine different categories, while ranking 14th in turnovers lost.
