The Missouri Southern women's basketball program has announced the signing of junior college transfer Megan Jackson of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) in Miami, Oklahoma.
"Megan comes from a great family with high character and standards," said Head coach Ronnie Ressel. "She will give us some added toughness on defense and the ability to score the basketball at all three levels. We are excited to have Megan join the Lion Family."
Jackson registered 12.6 points per game as a freshman on the team's way to a 27-5 record, including an 18-game winning streak heading into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament and securing the Norsemen's third-straight Region 2 championship where she added 16 points in a 21-point victory over North Oklahoma College.
Heading into the summer, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native was invited to compete against 39 of the top-40 Junior College players in the country at the NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Star game in Atlanta, GA.
She went on average double-digits in scoring at a 10.3 clip for fourth on the squad while starting all 31 games and recording 954 minutes as sophomore on her way to earning the 11th annual Dixie Woodall Inspirational Award that goes to a player who is the "Glue" of the Norsemen squad.
Prior to NEO, the 5'7 guard earned first-team All-Green Country Conference after averaging 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in her final season with the Booker T Washington High School Hornets under recently retired head coach Annette Kennedy, upon becoming an honorable mention recipient as junior.
She is the daughter of Marnie Jackson and Garrick Jackson Jr. and intends to major in biology during her time at Southern.
