MSSU men's, women's track and field to compete in MIAA Championships

The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field teams will open up the 2019 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships tomorrow in Warrensburg at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field as Central Missouri plays host to the Championships.

Action begins on Friday at 1 pm with the multi events. The Multi's conclude on Saturday at 10 am with field events beginning at 2:30 pm and running events starting at 4:30 pm. Field events begin at 11 am on Sunday and running events begin an hour later.

The No. 2 ranked women's team bring in the highest-ever ranking in program history to the meet. Southern has two athletes ranked No. 1 in their respective events and three ranked No. 2.

Emily Presley is No. 1 in the pole vault and Morgan Ash is No. 1 in the javelin, while Elizabeth Pomatto is No. 2 in the javelin and Desirea Buerge ranks No. 2 in both the shot put and discus. The women, as a team, have 11 top-ten ranked event qualifiers this season.










On the men's side, Southern is ranked 17th nationally, led by Rajindra Campbell who is fourth nationally in the discus and fifth in the shot put. Josh Norville is sixth nationally in the long jump, while Travis Petersen is tenth in the hammer, Adrain Broadus is tenth in the long jump and Rajheim Carby ranks tenth in the javelin. The men have six top-ten ranked event qualifiers this season.
